HBO's HD plan
DIRECTV and their competitors are engaged in a public relations battle who has or who will be the most robust offering of HD programming. DIRECT TV has already said that it will broadcast 100HD Channels by the year end and already has 23 channels broadcasted in HD.
The premium cable programmer HBO Chairman and CEO Bill Nelson announced the high-definition expansion plan by them that they will start the HD expansion by the end of this year and complete by Mid of 2008. HBO which has TWO HD channels HBO HDTV launched in 1999 and Cinemax HDTV by 2003. Now they plan to broadcast all the 26channels to be made HD and this would end by second quarter of 2008.
DIRECTV spokesman Robert Mercer said that they will carry 10 of HBO HD CHANNELS adding to the HBO HDTV already carries.
